Grand Meleé Style Rules
Format
Grand Meleé is a multi-player variant best suited for 4 or more players.
This format uses the standard 5th Edition rules with the following exceptions:
Specific rules
- Position at the table is determined randomly before play begins.
- Attack to the left: You may only attack the player sitting to your immediate
left. This is your "prey"; the person to your right is your "predator."
- Spell Range: All spells have a limited range of 1.
This means that you can only target the player to your immediate left or right;
global effects (Crusade, Savage Twister, Bazaar of Wonders) will only affect
those players within the range of the controller of the spell or effect.
- Option 1: Spell range of 2
- Option 2: Spell range of 2 until circle collapses to less than 6 people;
then, spell range of 1.
- When a player is killed, the circle closes immediately. The predator and
prey of the dead wizard now become the predator/prey of each other. Any permanents
controlled by the dead player are removed from the game. Any owned by
that player, but controlled by another stay in the game until the controller is
removed.
- Legends: More than one Legend of the same name may be in play as long as
they are not within range of each other (i.e. separated by at least one
other player). As soon as the two Legends come into range, they are both
buried immediately.
- Enchant Worlds: More than one Enchant World may be in play as long as
they are not within range of each other (i.e. separated by at least one
other player). As soon as they come into range, they are both
buried immediately.
- Scoring: When a player is killed, his current predator gains 1 point
regardless of who killed him. Also, the last survivor gains 1 point. The
player with the most points at the end wins. If playing for prizes, each
point is worth the same amount and no additional
prize is given beyond an amount per point. This allows the prize amount
(per point) to match the entrance fee with no loss (or profit) to the house.
- Deck Construction Rules: We are currently using Type "Chip"
for all constructed games. Additionally, the card "Shahrazad" is banned due
to the impact it would have on everyone not in it's current range.
